- Mike Thompson, prayer, third heaven authority
News2morrow is not the originator of this teaching, but is merely presenting it for the benefit of our audience to glean important insights from the first eight episodes of Mike Thompson’s podcast series, Third Heaven Authority. It is hoped that our readers can benefit from this teaching and ascend into Third Heaven Authority for personal prevailing prayer. This same authority can be used in praying for America and the return of Donald Trump to office. For those who’d like to be apprised of future podcasts, please refer to Mike Thompson’s ministry page on Facebook HERE or his podcast page HERE.
Each of the episodes will begin with an audio recording of the podcast. Following that there is a review of what was just covered. Be sure to utilize both audio and text for an enduring study method. This is Part 3 of 4.
Chapter 4
CHAPTER 4: AUTHORITY ON EARTH AS IN HEAVEN
This lesson will focus on the flow of authority. Following this lesson, we will have laid down the foundation for this teaching. Beginning with our next teaching, we will go into the practical aspects of moving in Third Heaven Authority.
Thompson describes a recent spiritual encounter in which he was taken up into God’s throne room where the Lord told him, “I want you to teach Third Heaven Authority to My people.”
Then an angel walked over and placed something warm on his lips. Immediately the warmth flowed like warm honey down his throat and into his stomach. That impartation was a commissioning for him to release this extremely necessary teaching on Third Heaven Authority to a people in our modern era.
One time Thompson was praying on behalf of his partners’ prayer requests and, instantly, he was sucked into the Spiritual Realm. In this encounter, Thompson saw a growing number of demons amassing together. He realized that these demons were the ones Thompson was praying against on behalf of his partners.
Suddenly, a sword appeared in his right hand and he began attacking them. “In the name of Jesus,” he would say, as he swung his sword at the first demon, “I rebuke cancer!” To the second one, he would say, “I rebuke poverty!”
Recall that in dreams and visions, symbolism is part of the language of Heaven. It’s not that these demons were actually killed by the sword, but rather they were stripped of their assignment and rendered ineffective in their present task. When you take authority over them, the angelic host then comes to shore up your words by binding, dragging, or chaining the demons.
Thompson went on in this fashion prevailing over the demonic horde, one by one. Then, he noticed that there was an angelic presence standing behind him, encouraging and strengthening him in the strategies to overcoming these demons.
After the intensive battle, which went on for quite some time, Thompson was standing before the Lord with his bloody sword by his side.
The mighty angel, who was behind Thompson, then came alongside Thompson with his bloody sword hanging down too.
This angel, who valiantly helped Thompson win the warfare, was about nine feet tall, wearing an armor resembling the kind that a Roman soldier at the time of Christ would have worn: steel armor, leather, joints, buckles, sandals.
Then a thundering voice shouted out, reverberating throughout the atmosphere: “Mike and Michael: An unbeatable team!” When the Lord referred to Thompson as “Mike,” the realization hit him instantly. The angel was none other than Michael the Archangel.
Humbled and in tears, Thompson fell to his knees before the Lord, wondering why all this was happening. What was the significance of Michael being brought in?
The Lord then began teaching Thompson about spiritual warfare.
BE A WARRIOR
“Mike, you were created as a warrior. There have been many things that have happened to you and many experiences that you’ve had over the years where the enemy has tried to bring woundedness and other situations into your life to rob you of your effectiveness as a warrior. Be the warrior!”
When the Lord said, “Be the warrior,” it resonated throughout Thompson’s entire being and infused boldness and strength within him.
He realized that God was beginning to teach him, along with everyone else reading this, to be a warrior because there were many things ahead in our lives where we need the victory (in order for God to bring about His will in our lives).
THE FLOW OF AUTHORITY COMES FROM HEAVEN
In the previous spiritual encounters that the Lord has given Thompson, they were all initiated by the Lord. The flow of authority comes from heaven.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore…” (Mat 28:18-19)
This means that the authority and proclamation are released from heaven and flows into the authority of man. And, therefore, we go!
Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.” And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.” The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. “For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” (Mat 8:5-10)
Jesus marveled over this Centurion’s words because he understood authority. He was given orders by those over him, and he passed those orders to those under him. He understood the lines of authority, which gives him the right to act. Authority is necessary in faith.
The Centurion understood that to be in authority, one needed to be under authority. He understood that the faith flowing out and accomplishing things from us had to be received as delegated authority from above.
To flow in Third Heaven Authority one must understand the flow of authority from heaven to us.
Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.
Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven (Mat 6:9-10)
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me (Mat 28:18-19 ESV)
Jesus is conveying that what He desires in heaven, we have the ability to replicate here on the face of this earth.
‘Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool’ (Acts 7:49)
“God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth…” (Acts 17:24)
Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:17-19)
And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him” (John 1:32)
The authority comes from heaven and it flows to the earth. The spiritual realm exists all around us, but heaven is a place in the spiritual realm.
“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. “And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Mat 16:19)
The Greek text literally says that whatever you bind (declare unlawful or lock away) on earth will have already been bound in heaven. And whatever you loose (declare lawful or unlock) on earth will have already been loosed in heaven.
The flow is always from heaven to earth.
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting (Acts 2:2)
“Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven” (Mat 5:12)
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Mat 7:11)
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven” (Mat 18:19)
Our authority and power comes from heaven. Authority is the right to act. Power is the ability to act.
The authority and power for Thompson to begin this series on Third Heaven Authority also came from heaven. When Thompson most recently visited heaven an angel touched Thompson’s lips, and what felt like warm honey went down into his stomach. This was an anointing, an empowerment, an assignment, a commissioning.
Jesus and the angel were commissioning Thompson to do something here on earth. But you don’t need an actual heavenly encounter to receive a commissioning. For instance, look at the Great Commission directive in the Scriptures:
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:15-18)
The word of God is a commissioning from heaven. Here’s another example. When the angel appeared to Mary and told her that she would have the Christ child, she had no idea of how it was going to happen. She had never even been with a man.
But it was explained that the Holy Spirit (from above) was going to impregnate her. And she replied, “At your word.”
No spoken word of God shall be void of power to bring itself to pass.
So we walk in the Word, the Spirit, & the Commissions from Heaven. We also open ourselves up to receive specific personal instructions through His voice, visions, dreams, angelic visitations, etc.
All of these supernatural means of heaven come to us, impart a commissioning, and then they become part of our authority.
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7)
Submitting to heaven is not a false humility, but it is taking the instructions given you and boldly affirming them in authority. Take heaven’s authority of who you are in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Chapter 5
CHAPTER 5: LEVELS OF SPIRITUAL INFLUENCE
Spiritual authority and power work hand in hand. The Greek word for power, dunamis, means an intrinsic power that is there ready to be released (Gk: energeia; i.e., released power). That power and action comes through authority (Gk: exousia).
Power is the ability to act. But, authority is the right to act, the delegated ability to do it.
REVIEW:
- First heaven: Is earth’s atmosphere (includes the earth with all that is in it);
- Second heaven: Is outer space, beyond earth’s atmosphere; this includes the vast stretches of the universe and beyond; this is where the demonic world holds court (Indeed heaven);
- Third Heaven: God’s heaven, God’s throne (i.e., Paul’s encounter when he was “caught up to the Third Heaven,” 2 Cor 12:1-4), (and the highest heavens).
FOUR LEVELS OF AUTHORITY
FIRST LEVEL OF AUTHORITY is the Authority of Man or Mankind over the Created Universe. It’s a natural authority. God gave dominion to Adam and Eve over all the works of His hands (Gen 1:26-28; Ps 8:3-8). “Have dominion…”
SECOND LEVEL OF AUTHORITY is the Authority of the Believer. It’s a spiritual authority. Jesus gave believers authority over all the power of the enemy, to be victorious in every area of life (Luke 10:19). This includes binding and loosing, and all other supernatural authority to release heaven’s will into this planet.
[But why did Satan say in Luke 4:5-7 that all authority and all the kingdoms of the world have been given onto him? And, why didn’t Jesus dispute that? How did Satan obtain that?
He stole it from Adam. When Adam and Eve were created, God gave them spiritual authority over the earth: “You take dominion, you dominate in the earth!” When Adam and Eve sinned and spiritual death was lodged in their hearts, Satan moved in and exploited their fall by taking upon himself the natural and supernatural authority given to them. Satan introduced spiritual death, sickness, poverty, wars, violence, all forms of wickedness, all forms of activities meant to destroy mankind. Jesus came to take back from Satan what he illicitly stole from Adam. Jesus rejected Satan’s offer to receive back the Kingdoms of this world via worship of Satan, who did not really own all creation, nor was he God. Jesus followed God’s path for restoring all spiritual authority back to believers – which meant the cross. Jesus disarmed Satan and destroyed his works. (Col 2:15, 1 John 3:8) Our Lord paraded Satan and all of his cohorts in the spiritual realm as vanquished foes. He stripped them of their ability to harm those who have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Yet, there is still sin in the earth, and Satan is still the god of this world (or age) and is still wreaking havoc on the world today. However, when people come to Christ, they are freed from that bondage. Once you’re saved, the Spiritual Authority is restored back to you. Jesus took it from Satan, not for Himself (since He is Lord), but He did it for us. Then, as saved people, they can move in supernatural authority over all works of the enemy. “In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:17-18). “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (John 14:12).]
THIRD LEVEL OF AUTHORITY is Authority of Position or Calling. It’s the way God intended for authority to flow from heaven to groups of people on the earth. The Roman Centurion was under authority to some and over authority to others. He knew of Christ’s authority over the spirit world. There is a flow of authority from heaven to various relationships on the earth. This includes power and blessings, the things of heaven flowing through groups in relationship. There are physical leaders in authority, like Kings (1 Tim 2:1-2), & there are spiritual leaders in authority, like ministers (Heb 13:7,17). Then there are husbands/wives (Eph 5:22-28), the family unit (Eph 6:1-4), the work environment (Eph 6:5-9). These relationships may seem to be natural or physical but there is a spiritual dynamic of how God’s power flows through those relationships when everything is done righteously and in order. So long as those in authority in the various callings/positions can humble/submit themselves under God, they will be empowered by God to love, honor, and respect those that are under them. Correction of abuse is right-use, not disuse. When you reject the lines of authority, the Bible calls it lawlessness. And, lawlessness, allows Satan to flow into a relationship causing even more harm.
FOURTH LEVEL OF AUTHORITY is the Authority of God’s glory, that includes His presence, His spiritual experiences. Glory (Gk: Doxa) is the manifest presence of God. This word is used in various ways in scripture:
A) you can give glory to God by honoring and praising Him,
B) you can glory in something, for instance, the cross (Gal 6:14), or
C) when God initiates the glory, the glory of God emanating from Him, something always happens. This is when the glory, the power, the presence, the anointing of the Living God changes things. The appearance of the Glory of God changes what He is touching. Miracles occur!
Scripture shows us that when this type of Glory appears, it’s associated with salvation, baptism of the Holy Spirit, healings, miracles, demonic deliverances. The Old Testament tells us that when the Glory of God saturated the temple, the Priests were unable to stand in His presence. This, too, occurs in today’s Holy-Spirit-filled church services. In that glory, people weep, laugh, fall in the Spirit, dream, have angelic visitations and other varied supernatural experiences. God is invading our lives and the natural realm with His divine presence. When this occurs, there is an impartation given to us. We come out of them with authority. Whatever the impartation, the revelation, the word, the empowerment, the assignment, there is an authority that is attached to that to accomplish it; as when the angel touched Thompson’s lips with honey When we gather together in the Lord, it’s important to create an atmosphere for encounters.
DON’T DENY THE POWER & THE GLORY
So many people are afraid of the glory. They recoil from it, dismissing it as emotionalism and fleshly. Yet, when they prevent the Lord’s presence, they reject the power and authority the Lord wishes to impart through us.
What would some of our more squeamish brethren have done if they were there at the initial outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2)? The early Christians were speaking in new tongues and they were filled with so much glory they appeared inebriated (Acts 2:15). They did not recoil, but received power and authority to move in the things of the Lord.
In Acts 10, Peter had the vision of the unclean animals, and he received wisdom and authority to receive Gentiles into the Body of Christ.
In Acts 16, Paul received a dream/vision of going to Macedonia to preach, granting him power and authority to pursue God’s plans.
There are literally tons of examples in the Old and New Testaments: Ezek 1:28-2:1, Dan 8:18-19, Rev 1:17-19. Many fall in the glory but the Lord doesn’t leave them there because the glory is there for a purpose. That glory changed their lives. We come out of each of these glory encounters with a new commission and a new authority to release the things of God into the earth.
WHAT IS THIRD HEAVEN AUTHORITY?
Third Heaven Authority is not a level of authority but, rather, it is walking in and releasing those four levels of authority from heaven’s perspective. It is wisdom and power from the throne down, rather than from earth’s perspective upward.
In other words, we can walk in the position of man, a believer, a calling, or a glory encounter from earth’s perspective, on a linear level and receive the blessings afforded those positions. All of these positions can present wonderful times in the Lord.
But, Jesus told Thompson that perspective increases the use of authority of power, thereby increasing the results.
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth (Col 3:1-2)
and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places (Eph 1:19-20)
and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph 2:6)
Remember, it is perspective! Furthermore, the Lord told this to Thompson:
Sin Consciousness is tied to the earth, Righteousness Consciousness is tied to heaven.
Hebrews 10 bears that out:
For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect…let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water (Heb 10:1, 22)
How can we know when our perspective is from above? It’s when we know we’re seated with Jesus in heavenly places, when we’re gaining our wisdom from above, when we’re operating from a righteousness conscious, and when we’re launching our warfare from an above position. The Holy Spirit builds up our inner man through every revelation, experience, glory encounter. Whenever you read the Word, whenever you have visitations, dreams and encounters, these are all supernaturally building up our lives. All of these things elevate our perspective to where we begin to look from above, not from beneath; over the circumstances, not under the circumstances.
This purges our hearts and consciousness away from the things of the flesh, such as condemnation, guilt, fear and the things that debase us in our understanding of who we are in Jesus Christ.
It is this cleansing that causes us to soar into the heavens, rather than being tied to the dysfunctions of the earth.
It causes our spirit man to soar with the Holy Spirit, rather than being trapped in an earth suit that is tied to flesh and sin consciousness.
This is what Third Heaven Authority is all about. It covers every part of our existence and our walk with the Lord. It is not only about spiritual warfare and our authority over the enemy, but it is also about releasing creative aspects of the Kingdom of Heaven into the earth – His will, His power, His plans, His purposes; touching the people around us.
